Contestable And Non-Contestable Works

For all connections projects there will be some work that must be carried out by SP Energy Networks - these works are deemed to be non–contestable. The work that can be carried out by ICPs is deemed to be contestable. Below are examples of non–contestable and contestable works.

Non–contestable works:

• Network design and planning policy
• Equipment and material specification
• Equipment installation and record specification
• Approval of connection design
• Design and determination of POC
• Desired reinforcement upstream of POC
• Consents for upstream reinforcements of assets
• Consents for connections assets for commercial and industrial sites
• Construction/installation of upstream reinforcement assets
• Design of diversion/removal/modification of existing DNO assets
• Work within boundary of any site controlled by DNO
• Connection to existing DNO assets
• Live jointing ( except during the live jointing trial )
• Installation inspection
• Witnessing of commissioning tests
• Additional works resulting from requesting POC on site

Contestable Works:

• Design of connection downstream from POC to DNO assets
• Consents (way-leaves) for connection assets (Greenfield Housing)
• Construction/installation of connection assets
• Commissioning of connection assets
